What is EDM?

Looking for a full service Electrical Discharge Machining Shop? Look no further, Polcraft inc. offers the latest technology and over 10 years of EDM experience to tackle your toughest EDM applications!

We have 2 Mitsubishi 4-axis wire EDM machines (FX-10 / DWC-110SA) that can handle workpieces up to 12"x18"x10.25" (X,Y,Z,) offering anti-electrolosis (AE) and automatic wire threading for unattended opperation. We have the Latest Mitsubishi Sinker EDM machine, The EX-8, equiped with a 4th axis to do complex helical and index positioning work and "FUZZY LOGIC" to ensure that the parent material being EDMed is not damaged by the process. All the machines mentioned above are programable to .00001 inches and are in a temperature controlled enviroment to allow us to hold tolerances to +-.0001 inches.

Mitsubishi EDM Equipment

In addition to Wire and Sinker EDM we also have the Wire EDMs best friend the "Hole Popper". Our Current EDM ST-300 EDM Drill is capable of drilling holes from .004 to .250 inches in diameter through the hardest materials including solid carbide. The "Popper" allows us to complete jobs entirely in the heat treated state, so we dont have to hold our breath sending finished parts to the heat treaters hoping that nothing moves while the parts are cooked. The "Popper" is also a perfect choice for reworking parts that are already heat treated, Just blast a hole, Stick the wire through, and let EDM tackle the "used to be impossible". EDM Drills are capable of drilling holes several hundred times deeper than the diameter!
System 3R EDM Tooling

To compliment this arsenal of high tech goodies we use SYSTEM 3R tooling to hold workpieces on the Wires and hold electrodes on the Sinker. Whenever possible we wire cut Sinker electrodes on the Wire machines, this allows us to utilize the full accuracy of the Sinker by starting with highly accurate electrodes. SYSTEM 3R makes this integration of technologies seamless.
DP Technology's Esprit-X CAD/CAM Software

Last but not least is DP technologies ESPRIT-2002 integrated CAD/CAM software. We use this High Level programing system to do the grunt work involved with programing (complex geometry calculations) and generate subprograms which are then sent to the machine tool and "plugged" into a vast network of macro programs that save tons of time programing and automate repetetive opperations such as multiple passes, holes, slots, and squares (to name a few). These macro programs represent years of knowledge and technology put into a very efficient system that decreases lead time and increases precision.

Our inspection room is also temperature controlled and located next door to the EDM room so inspection is close and accurate!
