This is a job that we completed that employed CNC Milling, CNC Wire EDMing,
CNC Sinker EDMing, and surface grinding.
This job started out on the Matsuura MC-600-VF Vertical Machining Center where all the
holes / pilot holes / pockets / and side opperations were done. The Pocket that is shown finished
on the sinker was roughed out at this time also. The parts were then heat treated, ground, and sent to the
EDM Department
. The Parts were then setup on the Mitsubishi DWC-110SA WIRE EDM Machine and were run overnight. In
the morning the parts were removed from the WIRE Machine and the edge where the parts were held was
ground in to size. Next the parts were setup side by side on the Mitsubishi EX-8 CNC Sinker EDM.
The Probe that is shown setting up the parts is first used to pickup the Tooling ball in the background,
then all positions and tool offsets reference the Tooling ball. First the parts are setup with the
Probe, then the electrode is setup off the Tooling Ball. This allows the electrode to be off center
of the spindle and I can still setup my parts with the center of the spindle (Probe). After the Sinker
the finished parts shown were sent off to plating.
